Cosmic Water Softeners use an ion exchange process to remove hardness minerals from water. This process leaves your water soft and free of scale, which can benefit your home in many ways. Soft water makes soap and shampoo lather better, leaving your skin and hair feeling soft and clean. It also reduces soap scum and mineral deposits on your sink, showers and dishes. In addition, soft water can extend the life of your appliances and plumbing fixtures by preventing scale buildup. Soft water can also save you money on your water heating bill, as it heats up more quickly than hard water.
Hard water contains high levels of dissolved minerals, such as calcium and magnesium. Soft water has lower levels of these minerals.
Cosmic® Fully Automatic Water Softener uses an ion exchange process to remove hardness minerals from water. This process leaves water soft and free of scale. It contains a resin that attracts and holds on to the hardness minerals. As the water passes through the resin bed, the hardness minerals are removed and replaced with sodium ions.
Resin in Cosmic® Fully Automatic Water Softener is made up of tiny beads that have a special chemical property. At low concentrations of sodium in typical hard water, the resin beads absorb the hardness minerals and replace them with sodium ions.
Regeneration is the process of cleaning and recharging the resin beads in the water softener. This is done by flushing the resin bed with a brine solution (a mixture of salt and water). The brine solution dissolves the calcium and magnesium ions that have accumulated on the resin beads and replaces them with sodium ions.
