Cosmic® Automatic De – mineralizer uses a two-stage process to remove impurities from water. In the first stage, water passes through a cation resin bed, which exchanges positively charged ions (cations) such as calcium and magnesium for hydrogen ions. In the second stage, water passes through an anion resin bed, which exchanges negatively charged ions (anions) such as chloride and sulfate for hydroxyl ions. The combination of hydrogen and hydroxyl ions forms pure water.
When the resin beds become saturated with minerals, the system automatically switches to regeneration mode. During the regeneration cycle, acid and caustic solutions are used to flush the minerals from the resin beds. The resin beds are then rinsed with water and returned to service mode.
Demineralized water is high purity water. It is used in a variety of applications, including healthcare, education, IT, and manufacturing. Demineralized water is also used in the production of food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and electronics.
There are two main types of demineralizers: continuous and non-continuous. Continuous demineralizers operate 24/7 and produce a constant stream of demineralized water. Non-continuous demineralizers operate on a batch basis and produce a specific quantity of demineralized water.
The capacity of Cosmic® Automatic De – mineralizer depends on the size and type of resin bed used. Cosmic® Automatic De – mineralizers can produce between 30 – 50 liters of pure water per day.
The regeneration process is simple and can be done by following the instructions in the owner’s manual. The process typically involves flushing the resin bed with a solution of acid and caustic.
